Okay, girls, get out yer mixing bowl, measuring spoons and cups, saucepan, nine-inch baking dish, and butter cutter (or just use a fork).

Get out yer flour, salt, unsalted butter, white and brown sugar, cinnamon, 6-8 Granny Smith apples (depending on how deep your baking dish is) and let’s get down to business, shall we?

Ingredients for Butter Pie Crust:
1 and ¼ cups of flour
¼ teaspoon of salt
½ cup of butter, chilled
¼ of ice water

Go ahead and measure the flour and salt, chuck it in the bowl and give ‘er a stir.

Measure the water and put in in the freezer for later.

Cut ½ cup of butter from your 1lb stick, using the printed ruler on the wrapper—butter must be hard—and slice it up over the bowl, letting the thin slivers fall into your flour. Then, with a fork, or cutter, start to cut the butter until the flour resembles course crumbs. Then work the flour with your hands, until it becomes a fine crumb mixture.

Get the iced water out of the freezer and pour over yer crumb mixture. Give a few stirs until the flour absorbs the water and then form into a ball. Cover it with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for a few hours.

Now do the same thing again… lol… you thought you were done. I’ve tried to double the ingredients to make 2 crusts at the same time, but it didn’t turn out very well, and it was hard to work all the butter into the flour.  

When some time as passed—two to three hours, really—go turn on your oven to 425 degrees and take the pie dough out of the fridge. Find your rolling pin.

Ingredients for the Apple Pie Filling:
½ cup of butter
½ cup of white sugar and ½ of brown sugar
¼ cup of water
3 tablespoons of flour
1 tsp of cinnamon
6-8 apples

Half 6 apples (8 if you are using a deep dish) peel and cut out the guts (the seeds and such) and slice very thinly so that they will cook once inside their bed.

Grab yer saucepan and turn on the stovetop. Chuck in yer butter, sugars, water, flour, cinnamon. Stir until the butter is melted and mixture comes to a boil. Go ahead and taste, yum yum. Be careful, now, it’s hot! Let simmer. Get your hubby to do this part. If he refuses, just whack him over the head with the rolling pin.

Get your baking dish and grease with butter, put aside.

Now, splash some flour on the countertop and start rolling yer dough. One ball at a time. It’s going to be difficult to roll; stop whining and just roll!

Spread the dough in the dish and chuck in all those nice slices of apples.

Roll out the other crust.

Pour the mixture over the apples, slowly, take ‘er easy!

Cover with the other pie crust. Press the rim with a fork and remove excess dough. Cut some vent holes in the top and put ‘er in the oven (on a baking sheet.)

Let cook for 15 minutes and then turn the oven down to 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes. Keep an eye on it!!!  

Let cool for a bit and enjoy!
